Creation

Called to Serve
  • Community and Participation
  • Creation
  • Dignity
  • Dignity of Workers
  • Option for the Poor
  • Solidarity and Peace

God is the creator of the universe and all that exists within it. It recognises that God’s creation is inherently good and has intrinsic value. This understanding of creation forms the basis for the Catholic Church’s teachings on the dignity of the human person, the stewardship of the Earth, and the promotion of social justice.

Our Eco Warriors have received the ECO Warrior Award for sustainability.

Catholic social teaching emphasises the responsibility of humans to care for and protect God’s creation. This includes respecting the environment, promoting sustainable practices, and ensuring the well-being of all living beings. It also calls for the equitable distribution of resources and the promotion of social and economic justice, recognising that all people are part of God’s creation and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Creation in Catholic social teaching reminds us of our interconnectedness with the natural world and one another. It calls for a holistic approach to social issues, recognising that the well-being of individuals, communities, and the planet are all interconnected and should be considered in any effort to promote justice and human flourishing.

‘Creation is a gift, it is a wonderful gift that God has given us, so that we care for it and we use it for the benefit of all.’ Pope Francis, Laudato Si’
